The incumbent will hold a key role in the regional BD team and will work closely with the Regional Lead. The person will be responsible for coordinating timely identification, assessment / evaluation, prioritization and approval of BD opportunities across the region to secure incremental growth. The person will also be responsible for leading and/or supporting the SWAT Team and the end-to-end deal management including partner selection, negotiations and timely completion of country deals and pan-regional deals. He/she will work with the local commercial organizations and other key MSD stakeholders (incl MRL scouts) to foster key relationships with target companies in the region to ensure efficient lead generation, and implementation . He/she will help secure efficient implementation, standardization and manage the alliance team in the ME region , consistency and adherance to the ONE MERCK BD processes and tools on a pan-regional level.
The person will contribute to the overall development of BD in the region. He/she will also be an active member and provide support to the local country teams, Managing Directors and Management teams. He/she will secure efficient working relationships with key stakeholders such as the Franchises, Legal, Finance, MMD, MRL, Corporate BD, and Regulatory.
? Strategy : Supports strategic analysis for large regional BD and strategic opportunities as well as development of Regional, Countries and Franchise strategies.
? Lead Generation : Ensures pan-regional review and coordination of regional opportunities with sub-regions, with other regional counterparts and global Franchises. Actively execute on ME business development strategy and identifies local and regionl deals opportunities through external and internal local country contacts, partnering meetings and market analysises . Makes contact with potential external partners to fulfill regional and country business development strategy and objectives. Fosters external relationships for the purposes of bringing in opportunities. Proposes and presents potential country and pan regional deals to MSD management (e.g.; Franchise Operating Committee) for approval. Leads development of winning capability presentations for external companies . Develops a deep understanding of partners' needs and sensitivities and creates selling propositions and key messages or deal structures . ? Assessment/ Evaluation / Negotiation : Working closely with the EEMEA Regional BD Lead, leads pan regional SWAT teams through the evaluation of a potential BD deal. Maintains working relationship with BD analysis team, countries, Franchises, Legal, Patent, Finance / FE&A, Corporate BD, Corp Development, MMD, MRL, regulatory and other stakeholders to drive BD process and projects to appropriate decisions. Maintains active contact with the external party for pan-regional deals and supports Term Sheets and Contracts process for deals.
? Data and record management : Ensures LKR and pan regional Project list is up to date for portfolio tracking and prioritization. Prepares reports / presentations for Sr management.
? Develop BD expertise in region : Develops, educates and employs best practices within the region. Supports efficient roll out of ONE MERCK BD and ensures adherance to agreed processes and governance.

Qualifications
BS in Science, Marketing or Finance required. MBA (preferred)
Strong analytical skills. Has working knowledge of financial concepts/NPV in order to assess attractiveness of opportunity and structure deal terms to maximize financial opportunity. Has solid knowledge of BD processes and considerations.
Experienced commercial professional with good understanding of business fundamentals and essentials of value creation: a problem solver with cross-section of commercial experience (e.g. Business Unit Director, Marketing management , New Product Licensing or Global Franchise is desirable).
At least 3-5 years of commercial experience. Prior experience in business case development of M&A and licensing opportunities, implementation and tracking of brand/franchise marketing plans is preferred.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills. Ability to influence (without direct authority
to drive progress, and establish a high degree of credibility with cross functional stakeholders is a requirement.
In-depth knowledge of commercial assessment and MSD Merck review processes/tools for licensing, M&A and/or business development deals. Only for Internal
Solid understanding of regional and local environments / needs. Ability to grasp quickly new information within markets / regions.
Demonstrated strong project management skills. Past experience in managing successfully within complex and fast paced environments
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Demonstrated meeting facilitation and presentation skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Cross functional experience with key stakeholders such as MRL, MMD, Legal, and Finance is preferred
