Description:

Provide couples with marriage/relationship education and support group services that are culturally sensitive with a particular focus on the Latino culture; ensure that individuals? needs are being met; and empower couples to formulate and maintain healthy relationships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with the identification and recruitment of Latino couples who are interested in strengthening their skills for a healthy relationship, parenting, fatherhood and job readiness/career advancement.
  2. Collaborate with parishes, schools and community agencies to identify interested couples.
  3. Implement designated Healthy Marriage curriculum to foster the acquisition of healthy communication and relationship skills for couples.
  4. Facilitate interactive activities with program participants.
  5. Encourage participant attendance and retention.
  6. Assist in the pre and post testing of couples to identify program outcomes.
  7. Maintain attendance records of healthy marriage classes by cohorts, as well as other required program documentation.
  8. Market and promote high expectation levels for colleagues and project participants; collaborate with other project/program staff to insure client needs are met.
  9. Establish and maintain an environment that is conducive to positive morale and directed towards achievement of the project mission.
  10. Ensure high ethical standards by maintaining high standards for participant confidentiality.
  11. Provide referrals to other agencies for couples as needed.
  12. Work collaboratively with other agencies to enhance services to couples.
  13. Work collaboratively with other departments within the agency.
  14. Attend training for professional growth as needed.
  15. Maintain knowledge of current healthy marriage practices and approaches.
  16. Attend scheduled meetings, training, and/or conferences to ensure well coordinated and effective delivery of project services.

OTHER DUTIES:? occasional weekend and/or evening work required; occasional travel (out of town, local and overnight) required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret instructions in verbal or written form; ability to deal with abstract and concrete concepts regarding human behavior. Ability to speak, read and write Spanish.? Ability to effectively present instructional information and respond to questions from groups of managers, participants, customers and the general public; must possess strong oral/written communication skills.? Ability to use a variety of computer applications and software including word processing, spreadsheets, internet access, email, etc.

Position Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:? ?High school diploma or GED + 5 years of progressively responsible experience in delivering social, health related, or educational services to diverse families.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:? Associates degree + 2 years experience in delivering social, health related, or educational services to diverse families.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED:? successful completion of healthy marriage training leading to Certification as a Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP) facilitator.

Valid driver?s license OR ability to secure transportation to various locations, as required.

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:? Bi-lingual ability/Spanish: read, speak and write.? Fingerprinting required.
